Pathways for Keene, Inc. holds one of the region’s most popular summer road race events, the 4 on the 4th Road Race, which has been held on the 4th of July for 14 consecutive years.

This year, the 4-mile run/walk promises to be a crowd favorite with more than $3,000 in raffle prizes, lively after-race activities, T-shirts and other prizes. Pathways for Keene, a nonprofit, tax-exempt corporation, works with a diverse group of organizations to further the development, use, maintenance and enhancement of a pathway system that meets the needs of Keene residents and visitors.

This year’s race proceeds will help match the City’s contribution to develop the Cheshire North Rail Trail, Phase 3-Park Avenue Loop Project. This improvement will start at Hurricane Road, along the CNRT, reaching all the way to the Summit Road neighborhoods, and beyond.

Join the fun on July 4 at Railroad Square on Main Street in Keene and help raise money for the extension of the Rail Trail, which will help create more places for residents and visitors to walk, run and bike. There is a $25 registration fee; sign-in starts at 7 a.m. with the walk at 8 a.m., and run at 8:30 a.m. You can register online or at Ted’s Shoe & Sport, or Beezetees (both on Main Street) in Keene, N.H.
