Mind in the Making: The 7 Essential Life Skills Every Child Needs

Sue Sweeney MS, RN and Debby Gove – Trained Mind in the Making Facilitator
Mind in the Making is an evidence based program developed from the ground-breaking book and work of Ellen Galinsky. This 8 week workshop series is designed for adults, parents, grandparents, caregivers, teachers, etc. The workshops are fun, informative and interactive. They start with applying executive-function skills to the lives of the adults and then move participants into modeling these skills to the children in their lives. Sessions are designed to complement the great work parents and educators are already doing, and empower them to engage more actively and creatively with the children in their lives. The program addresses the seven critical life skills that children need most: (1) focus and self-control; (2) perspective taking; (3) communicating; (4) making connections; (5) critical thinking; (6) taking on challenges; and (7) self-directed, engaged learning. For each of these skills, participants will learn numerous concrete tools they can practice immediately to strengthen these skills in themselves and their children. This program teaches parents and caregivers how to give children the most important tools they will need to succeed in learning environments and in life!
Cost: $65 includes book, materials and light refreshments
