Valentine’s Day Breakfast Smoothie

Categories: Healthy Eating, Recipes, Well Nourished

Many smoothie recipes are too high in sugar. This special Valentine’s Day version combines lower sugar (and less expensive!) red vegetables to leave you feeling energized to spread love all day long. Pick up the ingredients so you’ll have them on hand for breakfast! A juicer would make this recipe very easy. If you aren’t lucky enough to own a juicer, just chop up the ingredients as necessary and add them into your blender.

Serves 2

1 cup chopped red cabbage
1/2 red bell pepper
1 roma or other low-seed tomato
5 medium strawberries
1/2 cup raspberries
1 cup cold water, milk of choice, or yogurt for a creamier texture
1 ice cube

Garnish this red beauty with more sliced strawberries, raspberries and anything else red that looks good to you. Sun dried goji berries or even pomegranate seeds would be nice! Pour into two glasses and share with a friend.
